Washie 100 Miler

Location: Port Alfred to Port Elizabeth
For the few endurance runners that need something more than Comrades, there’s the Washie 100 Miler. The oldest 100 miler in South Africa. It begins in Port Alfred and runners run all the way to Port Elizabeth within 27 hours. To give you an idea of this 161km, consider the words to the theme song sung every year “Learn this lesson fast and learn it well, THIS is the road to hell”.
1000 Hills Trail Challenge
Saturday, 23 July
Location: Nagle Dam Picnic Site, Pietermaritzburg
This trail run takes place at Nagle dam which is a rural setting offering spectacular views. There’s a 38km and 21km route to choose from. Runners can expect to see some wildlife like Zebra and Impala in the Msinsi Reserve. The run promises a unique perspective of KZN that only those willing to explore on foot will rarely get to see.

702 Walk the Talk

Location: Marks Park Sports Club, Emmarentia
It’s that time of year where Joburgers of every shape, age and size bundle up and head to Emmerentia for the annual 702 Walk the Talk. There’s a 5km, 8km and 15km all of which must be walked (not run). Stay after the walk and enjoy the food and drink on offer and if you want to avoid the parking nightmare take advantage of the park and ride availabke.
