  1. Three Cranes Challenge

Thursday, 25 February – Sunday, 28 February

Location: Bushwillow Camp, Karkloof Valley, KwaZulu-Natal

The Three Cranes Challenge is a three day track and trail run covering 100km. There will be a race village where runners will have their own tent and be able to enjoy hot showers and warm meals at the end of each leg. The run routes through misty forests, showing off magnificent views. The race is in aid of three of South Africa’s endangered crane species.

  1. Cape Town Cycle Tour MTB Challenge

Saturday, 27 February

Location: Le Bonheur Wine Estate, Greater Simonsberg Conservancy, Stellenbosch

The two day Cape Town Cycle Tour MTB Challenge returns to Le Bonheur Wine Estate, Greater Simonsberg Conservancy, Stellenbosch this weekend. There are five different routes 14km, 20km, 30km, 40km and 55km, which take riders through some of the most scenic wine farms in the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy.

  1. Sterkfontein 1500m Swim

Saturday, 27 February

Location: Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve, Harrismith, Free State

Started in 2001, this was the first open water swim to take place in the Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve. It began with one distance – 1500m, but has grown to include 3 other distances (5km, 3km, 500m)

  1. The Fundamentals’ Beginner MTB Skills Course

Saturday, 27 February

Location: Durban Shongweni Club, Assagay

This MTB skills workshop is hosted by ex-Springbok MTB rider Amy-Jane Mundy. The course covers the basic anatomy of the bike, basic bike set up, the various riding positions for climbing and descending, braking control, gearing, balance, cornering and switchbacks. The class is limited to 20 riders

  1. Deloitte Pretoria Marathon

Sunday, 28 February

Location: Pretoria High School Old Boys Club, Pretoria

A must do race, the Deloitte Pretoria Marathon is a tough, yet scenic route that goes through a nature reserve. The Full marathon is a Comrades qualifier, but there’s also a 21.1km and 10km option
