Friday, 15 April – Saturday, 16 April

Location: Bot River, Western Cape.

The 5th Annual Barrel and Beards Harvest Festival takes place this weekend. It’s located in a little dorpie, an hour out of Cape Town. It’s a weekend that celebrates the end of the wine harvest (and some silly beards). This year’s festivities consist of three different events – a must for any wine lover.

  1. The FOREVER Loskop Ultra Marathon

Saturday, 16 April

Location: Loskop Dam Nature Reserve

A comrades qualifier, The Loskop Ultra is a great chance to improve your seeding time. A popular race, it is run in the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve and natural heritage site. In addition to the 50km there is also a 21.1km and 5km fun run.

  1. The Grind Obstacle Race

Saturday, 16 April – Sunday, 17 April

Location: Hillcrest Wine and Olive Farm, Western Cape

This is the first Grind Obstacle race. This muddy obstacle course offers routes for adults and kiddies, elites to weekend warriors. Varying differences you can expect up to 30 obstacles per event to conquer before hitting the finish line.

4. Birchwood Half Marathon

Sunday, 17 April

Location: Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre, Boksburg

This is the 6th year of the Birchwood Half Marathon and this year they promise to make it even better.  There is a 21.1km, 10km and 5km fun run. The 21.1km is a double lapper of the 10km and is a nice and fast route, perfect for getting a PB.

  1. Mica Two Provinces MTB race

Sunday, 17 April

Location: Stonehaven on Vaal

There are 3 distances to choose from 70km, 35km and a fun 5km. The route is made up of 60% single tracks, 30% dirt road and jeep track. It is not too technical. It is a fast and flat route, making it ideal for the whole family. To make the race smoother it is a seeded start.
