Heather Walden
Heather is married to Jason and together they have 3 kids. She started running in University. A regular podium finisher she has a half marathon PB of 91 minutes, a Marathon PB of 3 hours 5 minutes and a Comrades Marathon PB of 8 hours 4 minutes. Heather’s children often accompany her to races to support and second and her two youngest plan to follow her footsteps by completing the Comrades Marathon. Completing 3 Comrades while juggling a full-time job and kids has taught her that we are all capable of so much more than we think, and that there is always time in the day for the things that matter to you. She hopes that somewhere along the way she has passed this on to my children or maybe even a fellow runner. In July, Heather will be relocating to Switzerland with her family.

Belinda is co-founder of Black Mountain, and is a copywriter and marketing professional who graduated with a Business Science degree from UCT. Following this, she spent eight years in the UK working for international publishing houses Penguin Books and Harlequin. Her publishing experience has given her an intense appreciation for the power of words, while her marketing background means she understands how to speak to consumers in a way that converts them into customers. Claire McFarlane is a South-African born Australian and founder of Footsteps To Inspire. She is currently on a mission to run over 3500 kilometres of beach across 230 countries to support survivors of sexual violence. It is a world first, both as an expedition and social cause. Elizabeth Brierley
Elizabeth is originally from the UK and moved to Cape Town 9 years ago, where she fell in love with South Africa. She has a Masters in Paediatric Nursing from the University of Nottingham and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Cape Town. She has spent time working in rural areas throughout South Africa and has worked for the Human Milk Bank, Milk Matters for the past 7 years as well as being a lecturer at the University of Cape Town. Elizabeth started working for the Jenna Lowe Trust in 2014 and spent the last couple of years caring for Jenna and working with international specialists in the field. She now dedicates her time to educating healthcare professionals on how to diagnose and treat Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). Elizabeth also facilitates a monthly PH clinic at Groote Schuur.

Donovan Rokitta van Graan aka. Muis, born 06 September 1985 is an amateur adventurer and avid trail runner. Muis has climbed a number major mountains all over the world with a number of first ascents in remote mountain ranges. He is also the winner of the Mountain Club of South Africa Supertramp award 2007. He has also run a number of major races in South Africa including 3 Comrades and a number of other ultra-marathons including The Cederberg Traverse 100km which he placed 10th in.

Grace Charlotte
Grace is a creative wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a natural light photographer inspired by nature, beauty and life’s little candid moments. Grant Schuleman
Grant is married to Zena and they have 1 adopted child and 2 biological children. Although Grant claims to have always hated running, apparently due to the harsh training he endured during his national service, he has gone on to run in excess of 70 half marathons, 10 marathons and 8 ultra marathons since he started actively running in 2010. Grant is an avid Red Socker and is your typical back-of-the-pack runner; normally finishing just within the cut-off time, taking the opportunity to chat to loads of people on the way and generally having fun. His best races times are 2 hours 3 minutes for a 21.1km, 3 hours 18 minutes for a 32km and 4 hours 31 minutes for a 42.2km. Grant managed to successfully complete the Comrades Marathon on his third attempt in 2016. He hopes to one day break 2 hours for a half marathon.

Andrea Hofmeyr (Half of ‘The HofWayRound’)
Lloyd and Ani Hofmeyr, newlyweds in their early thirties, boldly decided to leave their much-loved, corporate lives in Johannesburg, put all of their belongings into storage, pack a backpack each and head to the other side of the globe in search of an adventure. They travelled through Southeast Asia for six months, living minimally, exploring endlessly, and slowing down enough to listen and learn from the experiences that our incredible world has to offer. Jillian Jacobs
Jillian is a 50 year old, single Mom to Leah (18) and Daitin (14). She started riding in her final year of University after saving up money to buy her first bicycle. She rode for freedom and fun and slowly became competitive. In 1998 she went to the World Champs in Austria, where she raced 3 races, placing 6th on a Hill climb Time Trial. In 2011 she decided to try mountain biking and soon started winning shorter distance races. She still rides for fun. “It's not about winning or losing,it’s about choosing to do the sport I love!”

Kelly Kidgell
Kelly is a mom of 3 small boys and dedicated runner's wife. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and comes from a diverse sporting background. When time permits, Kelly enjoys swimming-especially open water events. Along with running a small marketing business in SA, an online store in the UK, a Facebook group of nearly 50 000 members and various charitable causes, her new found passion is writing about life with her Runner Guy.

Dr Martin Krüger
Dr Martin graduated from Wits Technikon with a Masters degree in Chiropractic in 2004. He also has a diploma in Craniosacral therapy and has a special interest in Functional medicine. He is a keen reader of Chiropractic philosophy and applies holistic healing philosophy to his practice. After 10 years in practice he went into a venture in the corporate world where he was assisting in and creating wellness days and corporate wellness programs for large corporations. This was however not where ‘Doc Marty’ was being fulfilled and he decided to go back into private practice full time in 2014. Dr Martin also enjoys giving health talks on optimising health and wellness, and in conjunction with Suits and Sneakers (an exciting entrepreneurial platform) has given talks to up to two hundred people at a time. He hopes to continue with his public speaking and coaching in the future to many more thousands of people. Nothing makes him happier than having a busy practice with as many patients as possible receiving Chiropractic care and his vision is to build a truly all-encompassing and progressive wellness centre.

Mushkie Katz
Mushkie is a new mother, living with her husband and baby in Los Angeles, CA. She enjoys making things in the kitchen and designing other things on the computer. She tries to live a healthy balanced lifestyle, always tuning to Nutreats for inspiration.

Natia van Heerden
Natia is a former Springbok gymnast who turned to XTERRA after retiring from her gymnastics career. In 2013 Natia qualified for the XTERRA World Championships in Maui and played 3rd in the 20-24 age category. In 2014 she qualified again and returned to Maui to win the 20-24 age category and under 25 category. Since then Natia has transitioned to Ironman racing, keeping XTERRA as part of her training and racing schedule in the PRO division.

Phindi Gule
Phindi Gule is a well-known South African media maven, who has had an incredible career on radio, as a columnist and within the corporate sector. She’s passionate about keeping fit and healthy which led her to completing her first Comrades Marathon in 2012 and a historical run across KZN in April 2016 together with her husband Kevin Burley. Phindi Gule founded the DurbanNite Race and is an ambassador of the Comrades Marathon, The Mandela Marathon, The Total Sports Women’s Race, New Balance, SANBS, Adopt a Child Foundation and the Global Face of Durban.

Ryno Ellis
Ryno is the content co-ordinator for GetSavvi Health medical insurance. He regularly writes about health and lifestyle topics and manages GetSavvi Health’s social media pages. A Journalism graduate from the University of Pretoria, he worked as a hard news journalist before making his way to marketing. He loves his two beautiful Labradors, and when he is not walking them on the beach, he’s probably trying to follow his own health and lifestyle advice by trading in the take-aways for a healthy, home-cooked meal.

Tegan Burger
Tegan Burger has been teaching yoga since 2012. She’s completed Living Yoga's Teacher Training; teacher training with Jim Harrington including his 500 hour (advanced) training; and the 300 hour Jivamukti Teacher Training in New York with David Life and Sharon Gannon. Tegan is currently a BSc in Nutritional Science. Tegan credits yoga to helping her keep in check with herself and more in tune with her true self.

Torsten Koehler
Torsten Koehler was born in 1965 and was raised in Nambia. After being diagnosed with testicular cancer in his thirties, he started the Love Your Nuts campaign. His book “Love your nuts” was published in German in 2004 and in English in 2011. He currently lives in Cape Town where he is following his passions – photography and design – after leaving the teaching profession in 2005.

Jane Killian
Jane Killian has been personal training women for 13 years. Through the years of listening to what they really want and feel, she’s learnt that almost everyone didn't feel good enough in some way. Jane created a self-love coaching brand, Unselfishly Me, through which she’s able to help so many women to love themselves a little more, so that it impacts their whole life as they finally feel good enough.
