‘Minimalism is not a lack of something. It’s simply the perfect amount of something”
–Nicholas Boroughs
I’ve been meaning to sort through my pictures for months, mostly taken on my phone; I’ve accumulated thousands and thousands of images. Not different images mind you, of each thing, there are at least a dozen variations.
iPhones, laptops and smart tablets have enabled the opposite of minimalism. And it’s just not the virtual world. If one is good, two is definitely better, isn’t it? We want more and we want it now.
True minimalism may be imagined as owning fewer than 100 things and spending most of your days traveling – accruing experiences, not things. But then is the pursuit of more experiences really minimalism?
This month on Nutreats we’re taking a milder approach to minimalism and looking at how you can live with the only the things you really need. We’re viewing minimalism as fewer things, more doing. We’ll be paring down beauty routines, fitness routines, food and more as we explore the idea that less really is more. Except when it comes to shoes. There is no minimalism when it comes to shoes.
