Inside My Makeup Bag with Feige

Inside My Makeup Bag with Feige

Inside My makeup bag is a new series taking you inside different people’s makeup bags and introducing you to the products they use every day to pull their perfect makeup looks together.

I’ve loved makeup since I was about 12. I would bore you with the story, but I’ve already written about it here. My application techniques have changed since then (thankfully) but my reasons for loving it have remained the same.

I love how makeup has the ability to transform you, enhance you and give you confidence. I also love how there’s something for everyone. Whether you wear makeup every day, or basically live #nomakeup daily – I find everyone has the product/s they love or “can’t live without”.

Inside My makeup bag is a new series taking you inside different people’s makeup bags and introducing you to the products they use every day to pull their perfect makeup looks together. I love discovering new things and recommendations make the world of difference when you are faced with the abundant choices today’s world offers.

To kick off the series, seeing as I handle beauty around here, I’m taking you inside my makeup bag 😊.

Feige’s Makeup bag

Describe your every-day makeup look:

Classic Minimal. I like to look like I’m not wearing a fortune of makeup even though my everyday look makes use of quite a few products.

What products do you use every day:

Foundation, Concealer, Bronzer, highlighter, blush, eyeshadow, brow gel/powder, eyeliner, mascara and lip balm. If I feel like an extra pop I will use a lipstick but it isn’t an every day look.

Foundations:

I switch between two, depending on the look I want.

Revlon Colorstay 2-in-1 compact makeup & concealer (150 Buff)

Price: R315 at Dischem

Discovered it: While researching this article

Love it because: It’s a very convenient product and is so easy to apply. I smear some of the creamy formula on my fingers and rub it on my face. It blends really nicely, has a nice matte finish and it looks really natural. It also gives decent coverage and whatever it doesn’t cover, the little concealer pot – which is a thicker and harder consistency, covers.

Mac Face and body foundation (N2 A36)

Price: R465 at Mac

Discovered it: While researching this article

Love it because: It’s incredibly natural looking and gives you a very radiant dewy glow. I find it applies much better with a brush and is best for better skin days as coverage is light.

Concealer:

Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer (020 Light)

Price: R69.95 at Dischem

Discovered it: While browsing the Catrice section in Dischem

Love it because: It’s got great coverage but doesn’t look cakey and blends well. Also the price!

Bronzer:

Catrice Sun Lover Glow Bronzing Powder (010 Sun Kissed Bronze)

Price: R99.95 at Dischem

Discovered it: While browsing the Catrice section in Dischem

Love it because: It blends well and gives a nice subtle bronze glow.

Highlighters:

Catrice Dewy Wetlook Stick (010 Splash N Glow)

Price: R99.95 at Dischem

Discovered it: While browsing the Catrice section in Dischem

Love it because: It’s incredibly subtle as opposed to the very trendy overdone highlighter I’ve seen lately. I also love that it’s dewy as opposed to a powder finish. I use this one to highlight the high points of my face.

e.l.f Baked Highlighter (Moonlight Pearl)

Price: $2.99 on Amazon

Discovered it: While trying out a bunch of e.l.f. products

Love it because: It’s gives a strong highlight. I like to use it in the corner of my eyes as the finish reminds me of eyeshadow, so it blends in well.

Blush:

Physicians formula nude wear glowing nude blush (Natural)

Price: R199.95 at Dischem

Discovered it: While researching this article

Love it because: It’s a really nice soft natural pink toned blush and I love that the back flaps open to reveal a mirror and brush.

Brows:

e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit (Medium)

Price: $2.99 on Amazon

Discovered it: While browsing Amazon

Love it because: I purchased this on a whim because I figured at $3, i.e R45ish I had nothing to lose. I had never used an eyebrow gel before and was curious. I don’t like the brush it comes with so use my own hard small angled brush. I like that it’s easy to apply, blends into your brow hair really nicely and builds up your brow look naturally. I do not like the powder side as I feel it takes away the natural look, but as I said – at the price it’s a winning product. It also lasts a really long time. I do my brows daily nonnegotiably and it’s lasted +/- a year.

Eye Shadow:

Clinique all about shadow quad (03 morning java)

Price: R515.00 at Clicks

Discovered it: Got it inside a Clinique free gift

Love it because: In general, I like a neutral toned shadow so this quad has a good nude shade, but the highlight for me is the gold shade, which is magical. I love to use it on my lower lash line instead of liner and it makes your eyes pop.

Eyeliners:

I am currently into a subtle cat-eye look and use 3 different types depending on the day.

Docolor Liquid Eyeliner Pen

Price: $6.99 on Amazon

Discovered it: While browsing Amazon. I searched liquid eyeliners and then browsed only options that were 4-stars and up. Picked it off the reviews!

Love it because: It glides on so nicely and easily, gives a strong black matte finished line and is long wearing. It also dries down fast. It does claim to be smudge proof but I have found that when my eyes water it does smudge on the outer corners – other than that it is long wearing.

Able Cosmetics Duo Eyeliner set

Price: $50 on Ablecosmetics.com

Discovered it: On Instagram, followed someone who used it, tagged Able and I started following the brand.

Love it because: I wrote about the brand and products in more detail in this article, so give it a read. It’s a set with a liquid and a pencil liner. The pencil, called primary pencil has a sharpener built into the lid (genius) and a smudging brush on the edge to help you smoke out your look. It’s ridiculously easy to use, the formula just glides on in one swift move and is both buildable and blendable. I never thought I’d like a pencil more than a liquid but this is my number one for quick top liner looks.

The liquid, called cat-eye 101 has a rubber tool edge attached to its lid, to help you trace where your line should go. The formula is smudge proof and is seriously long lasting. I do find that it doesn’t glide on as smoothly as the docolor one I purchased before this, however this one doesn’t smudge.

Mascara:

Clinique high Impact Mascara (01 Black)

Price: R335.00 at Clinique

Discovered it: I used to use Clinique skincare and always got my new products during free gift time. Every free gift comes with a mini of this mascara.

Love it because: I love the brush and the formula. It glides on nicely, to give you a natural fanned out lash look. It doesn’t clump and doesn’t build your lashes too thick.

Lip Balms:

Palmer’s Lip Butter (Dark Chocolate and Peppermint)

Price: R26.95 at Dischem

Discovered it: While using Discovery vitality rewards

Love it because: It is incredibly moisturizing and gives your lips a nice glossy look without any stickiness, and it smells amazing too – it’s like a mint thin.

Lip-Ice with Vit. E Shea Butter with a subtle tint (Cherry)

Price: R18.95 at Dischem

Discovered it: Got it in a gift bag at a movie night

Love it because: It is also incredibly moisturising, smells good and gives your lips a beautiful sheer pink tint.
