It’s a mouthful of a name to digest first thing in the morning and yet this Mushroom Maca Mocha Latte is a beverage I’ve been having most mornings. When I’m not rushed that is, as it combines more ingredients than your average caffeine beverage and requires blending. More time than one may have in the morning.
First up Maca, my most used adaptogen. I used the yellow maca, said to have the most benefits. I added it to my morning drink because it helps with recovery (great after a workout), helps balance stress and enhances energy and may even improve your mood (perfect for cold winter mornings).
Next up mushrooms. Mushrooms have been getting a lot of airtime in the wellness world due to their many benefits. I used this mushroom mix which has reishi, shiitake and turkey tail. This combination is anti-inflammatory and helps boosts immunity.
Those two along with coffee, cacao, coconut cream and coconut sugar make a powerful morning combination.
I’m undecided whether it’s wiring me to be more productive or alert, but I’ve come to like the flavour combinations. I admit that it may not be for everyone, but, if you’re already sipping on chaga coffee or adding adaptogens into your daily meals you’ll love this combination.
Mocha Maca Mushroom Latte
- 1 tsp ground coffee
- 1 tsp maca powder
- 1 tsp mushroom mix
- 1 tsp cocoa
- 1 tsp coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp coconut cream
- 1 C boiling water
- Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until well combined. Pour into a mug and enjoy.
