Our Favorite Coffee Collagen Shake

Our Favorite Coffee Collagen Shake

Collagen in supplement form has been popular for years now. While your body does naturally produce collagen, that production slowly declines in your 20s which is where supplementation comes in.

Why Supplement with Collagen?

Collagen has numerous benefits for your skin, hair, nails, gut, joints, and muscles.

Skin – Hydrolyzed collagen peptides can support better hydration, thus improving skin elasticity and leading to smoother skin.

Hair and nails – Collagen supplements provide many of the amino acids and nutrients needed for hair growth. Many also find it helps reduce nail breakages and improves nail appearance.

Gut – collagen supplements may help support the stomach lining.

Joints – Collagen is a structural component of our joints. It helps tissues be firmer, elastic, and withstand stretching. Supplements may improve joint mobility and comfort.

Muscles – While collagen is not technically a complete protein, it still delivers eight of the nine essential amino acids that can contribute to muscle mass, especially when paired with exercise and a balanced diet.

Collagen powders, particularly when derived from good sources like grass-fed bovine, provide you with a higher dose of collagen per serving and have fewer additives than liquid collagen.  I use this collagen powder, as it’s the best kosher collagen supplement I’ve found and I like that it has zero taste and dissolves completely into drinks.

My favorite way to use it is in this collagen coffee shake. It’s easy to make, delicious and not as heavy as having a smoothie (another great way to incorporate collagen into your diet). In addition, it avoids the concern of whether putting collagen into hot coffee reduces the effectiveness of it.

I use OKJA Liter o’ Latte oat milk coffee drink, which I get solely for this. If you can’t get it, you can combine 1-2 shots of espresso with your choice of milk.
