  1. Preheat the oven to 190C and spray four ovenproof ramekins with a non-stick spray.
  2. Add all ingredients, except the golden syrup, in a large mixing bowl and whisk with an electric hand whisk until fully combined, light and airy. (Alternatively you can use a stand mixer).
  3. Distribute the golden syrup evenly between the 4 ramekins. Top with cake batter and bake for 20 minutes until just cooked through.
  4. Remove from oven and leave to cool slightly in the ramekins before turning out into serving dishes. Serve with ice cream or date caramel.
