Bellydance Workshops in Jozi

Location: Ferndale Village Shopping Centre, Randburg

If you’ve ever wanted to try belly dancing, this one day workshop is a great start. The day is split into three sessions and you can choose to do one or all 3.

Veld Warriors#2

Date: Sunday, 5 February

Location: Rietvlei farm, JHB South

Veld Warriors is an outdoor group fitness program with a difference. You will be led by two personal trainers through a 90 minute workout, working with a variety of equipment such as tires, sand bags, sleds, as well as your own body weight and more.

CREDO Wealth Pirates 21.1km Road Race

Date: Sunday, 19 February

Location: Pirates Running Club, Greenside

Known as Joburg’s toughest 21km, this popular race takes you all the way up to the Northcliff water towers and back again. Word to the wise, at 14km when you get to a point and it says King of the Mountain, you may be at the highest peak but it isn’t completely downhill from there.

Location: Fredman Drive, Sandton

This is the first KPMG Sun Mile which takes place at night and ends with an after party at Taboo Nightclub.

PopUp Gym Monte Casino

Location: Monte Casino, Fourways

The PopUp Gym is back for 2017 and along with their exercise class, Letshego and Kethiwe will be doing a juicing and smoothie demonstration. You will also be able to get a full body assessment.

Jakaranda “Pre-Argus”

Location: Willem Prinsloo Museum, Rayton

Hosted by the Jacaranda Cycling Club, this 60km and 90km road race will test your fitness level before you head to the Cape for the Cycle Tour.

Hosted by Tegan Burger, this monthly ladies yoga retreat is a jammed packed day. It starts with a sweaty yoga session, breaks for snacks and ends off with a restorative yoga session.

Tru-Cape Heritage Orchard Open Day [FREE]

Date: Saturday, 4 February

Location: Oak Valley Estate, Grabouw

Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing, the largest marketer of South African apples and pears is opening its Heritage Orchard of historic apple and pear trees to the public for a guided 2 hour tour. You will be able to see, pick and taste historic fruit no longer in commercial production. Limited spots.

The Grind is an obstacle course race tailored to the entire family. All courses are 5km long, but vary with the amount and difficulty of obstacles.

The Trail Series XL races are for trail runners who want more of a challenge than the long trail runs. The race is 22km and takes you through an eclectic mix of landscape from pine forest and open fields to riverine forest and apple orchards.

Location: Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve

This trail run is in aide of the Ryan Walker foundation and is a fun run with plenty of food and drink on offer.

The biggest event on the open water swimming calendar happens this month. It’s also the largest open water swim event in the world.

22nd Lilyfontein Red Baron Tomato Trot

Date: Saturday, 4 February

Location: Lilyfontein School, East London

This 15km walk/run takes you through the scenic routes through tomato and cattle farms in the Brakfontein area of East London. More than a race, it’s a family outing with entertainment, food and a beer tent.

Vaal Wildilfe Trail

Location: Vredefort Dome

This scenic trail run takes place at the Vredefort Dome UNESCO World Heritage Site just outside Parys. The 15km Antelope Trail run is incredibly challenging; whilst the 7km Wildebeest Trail Run is family friendly.

Location: Hartbeesfontein Boeresaal

The Harbeesmieliemyl is one of the biggest events of mountain biking, road biking and trail running in the North-West Province. There’s varying distances in trail running, road cycling and MTB on offer plus a fun run.
