Lara is a board-certified naturopathic doctor with nearly 20 years of experience in female health. She is also the author of ‘Period Repair Manual: Natural Treatment for Better Hormones and Better Periods’.
Take PMS for starters: Arguably the most common period related issue among females. Premenstrual syndrome is a “recurring pattern of emotional, physical, and behavioral changes in the days before your period…There are over 150 symptoms that are associated with PMS.”
Common symptoms include:
- Headaches.
- Breast pain.
- Bloating.
- Nausea.
- Emotional sensitivity.
- Acne, and
- Food cravings.
Of PMS, Dr Briden said: “PMS is common, but it’s not inevitable. It’s one of my favorite things to treat because it responds so well to natural treatment.”
So what does she recommend for treating PMS?
Magnesium. “PMS responds very well to magnesium. In some people, magnesium deficiency may actually be the main cause of PMS.”
